about

After a blistering year “The Best Band From This Planet” are back for 2024.

This single and digital b-side is teasing the unrivaled, BCUC live-power ahead of their Elektronikalizer 2024 EU Tour starting on March 1st

The band’s lauded, and sold-out LP with OntheCorner, ‘Millions of US’ has had a ‘clear fire’ Limited Edition press to celebrate their WOMEX Award and effervescent touring.

As renown for their rawkus, knock-out live shows as they are their atmospheric, epic, undulating recorded pieces, Eletronikalizer and the Cosmic Remix of Afro Pyschedelic are a rare recorded apex of BCUC in a short-sharp shot-to-the-arm.

Just one minute is all that is needed for BCUC’s front man, Jovi to catapult Elektronikalizer from his taught vocal and into the ether leaving, chem trails of rocket fuel as it spirals into orbit. Bouncing a few concentric strata out of the Earth’s atmosphere is where the Cosmic Remix of Afro Pyschedelic begins it’s trajectory, opening up a parallel vortex full of radioactive synth waves and gnarly frequencies of dark matter.

Across the airwaves, firing through the streams, BCUC boosters are go. Elektronikalizer bolts, live lightning, radio radiation. 'Music for the People, by the people for the people.'

On the Corner continue distilling the BCUC magic on record. Summoning the bands inimitable mainstage festival-energy and stewing down, casting spells for the airwaves and personal listening.

As Jovi Nkosi once said describing BCUC as “modern freedom fighters who have to tell the story of Soweto’s past, present and future to the world”, necessity states the unavoidable mission of their sound.
Exploring and celebrating the fight for change, BCUC’s ‘Millions Of Us’ series of recordings unites, reminding us of necessity and continuity: the fight for freedom will ebb and flow until the choice to fight is no choice at all.

It’s a call to arms to fight with love, energy and compassion: from the inner conflicts of our individual existence to global issues, it’s the Millions Of Us that have the power to fight and bring change to our world.

about

BCUC Soweto, South Africa

BCUC is a band from Soweto, South Africa. We draw inspiration from Indigenous music that is not exposed in the mainstream. We sing ritual songs, shebeen songs and church songs infused with raps and a rock and roll attitude. We always aim for a timeless, honest and traditional/ ritualistic sound. The music should always resonate with the spirituality, the history and the future of the people. ... more
